Born and raised in Wyoming, Nora Parton began her studies in the nursing field at Sheridan Community College. After graduating in 1988 with her ADN, she began her career as a nurse with the VA Hospital in Sheridan, caring for veterans with addiction and psychiatric disorders. Over the course of her career she has worked in a wide variety of fields such as long-term care, Cardiology, Stroke Management and Rehab.
Returning to her beginning love, she arrived in New Mexico in 2009 as a travel nurse and after working there for a year, decided she loved it so much that she could never leave. She currently works in the Behavioral Health field in Albuquerque, NM.
In 2015 Nora was awarded the New Mexico Nursing Excellence award in Skilled Nursing and the Presbyterian PRIDE award for Nurse of Distinction. In 2017, she was awarded the Presbyterian Guardian Angel award, the result of a patient making a donation to Presbyterian in her name, to recognize her for exceptional care given.
Nora joined the American Cannabis Nurse Association in 2016 after her interest in Cannabis began to grow. In 2018 she attended the CANNMED conference at UCLA, the New Mexico Cannabis Conference and has recently completed the Medical Cannabis Curriculum for Nurses. She has worked as a Dispensary Nurse, and continues with self-study today.
